A New Adventure or Why I have a Problem With Sam Glaser’s Hallel

Hallelukah!
But, I have a problem: Whenever we reach the Hallel in davening, I find myself singing all the old tunes out of habit and can’t seem to recall any of Reb Sam’s tunes. It is so frustrating! I want to sing Reb Sam’s Hallel. I plan on singing his tunes, but when the time comes, I find myself singing all the old tunes. (I guess I should fly Reb Sam out whenever I need to sing Hallel.)
I suspect that I am not alone in singing Hallel in habit rather than spontaneous joy. The purpose of this book is to help me, and, hopefully, you, learn new forms of Hallel and achieve new levels each time we open with Halleluyah.

I have had the privilege to make a home recording of R’Shlomo Carlebach’s Leil Shabbat and Shabbat Day nusakh HaT’fillah.
I’ve been asked many times why I haven’t recorded Hallel. My response has been, and remains,that no 2 Hallels are the same because the world is in a different moment every few hours.
Today’s Hallel cannot compare to yesterday’s or tomorrow’s Hallel.
I can personally attest to the Holiest of Holy Rav Moshe’s words: His soaring Hallels are always new and exciting. While many sing Reb Shlomo’s niggunim, they sing to get into the Hallel. Rav Moshe sings because he is already shining inside and out with Hallel. I only disagree with the implication that his Kabbalat Shabbat is ever the same; I have followed this master Ba’al Tefillah tens of times and have never felt that a single word was being sung a second time; each word was fresh, new and exciting.
