R' Shlomo once said, the mark of a king is someone who is not afraid to share.

In the exchanges between Moshe and Korach there is an anomaly- in verse 16;3 the Torah tells us "VaYikohalu al Moshe v'al Aharon"-literally they ganged up on Moshe and Aharon; but thereafter we hear nothing from Aharon!!! R'Shlomo gave over in the name of various Rebbes that Aharon's response was 'who knows- maybe Korach is right!Maybe I'm not on the level to be Kohein Gadol '=> Aharon was NOT perturbed by Korach's comments because he knew that being Kohein Gadol was not about him, but of being one with clal yisroel.
R'Shlomo gave over from the Ishbitzer Rebbe that arguably, Korach was the Gadol HaDor,the greatest of his generation. If so, why didn't he merit being the Kohein Gadol? The difference between Korach and Aharon lay in their approach.
Korach, the Gadol HaDor,wanted everyone to ascend to his high level (conceptually, not a bad thing);whereas Aharon HaKohein,Ohev Shalom v'Rodef Shalom, was willing to be as one with all of Israel at each person's level=> his own personal cavod (honor) was irrelevant.

(On a different fascinating note:R'Shlomo said the Ishbitzer intimated that Korach blew it, there was supposed to be a position of "Levi Gadol" to which he would have ascended, but after the altercation it never came into being.)
